Question: How are there so many free apps in the Store if each of those developers have to pay $99/year just for the right to code for it? Do they just eat this cost out of the goodness of their hearts or am I missing something?
Hi Brad, yes the developer or company are eating the cost. Remember that most apps don’t make a profit to even cover the development cost let alone the $99/yr license. However, people create apps for various reasons such as marketing efforts, intrinsic rewards, etc..

The Zune concentrates on being a Portable Media Player. Not a web browser. Not a game machine. The iPod’s strengths are its web browsing and apps. If those sound more compelling, perhaps it is your best choice.
